New life, new meal plan

 {First off, thank you if you left a note for me on my last blog post, or  just sent a good vibe or two my way.}
I don't know what I want to label these meal plan posts - they are a work in progress.  But I know I need to focus on my health - mental and physical, so I have to be intentional about what I eat.
That being said, this week is all about comfort.
So here goes.

Monday - Boneless Pork Chop, pinto beans, peppers and onions
Tuesday - Kale and Apple Salad with rotisserie chicken
Wednesday - Crockpot Mississippi Pot Roast, skinny mashed potatoes, green beans {going back to work}
Thursday - Skillet Tilapia, zucchini
Friday - Meatball and rice skillet with peas
Saturday and Sunday are TBD but I'm going up to Highlands, so maybe something simple for dinner.

The Girl is still here with me and we have been very good about eating lots of veggies and very little fast food.  Making menus out keeps me on track.  I don't mind cooking, I will just have to adjust slightly when she goes back to her apartment.  I can do this.

5 thing Friday - deer, yarn, Darby, greenbelt walks, Firstborn

 I would like to keep blogging.  I'll just take it nice and slow.
Fawns captured by the wildlife camera at Highlands.  Aren't they sweet?
I know deer are a nuisance in suburban areas, but out here, watching them is quite relaxing.
After The Girl finishes up her giant yarn blanket, she's going to help me make mine.  Here she has a mass of it spread out over my bed.  She has already pulled out chains twice since it was gigantic.  I just want one that will cover my lap while I read.  She also had her embroidery spread out on the chair next to me - I don't mind a bit.  She's been keeping busy with work and crafts.
The RV guy came to pick up Darby last week so that I can sell her on consignment.  That was a blessing as I had never even driven her out of the driveway.   I took pictures of the inside - it was gut wrenching.  I probably should have done that the day I cleaned her out.  Happy trails, Darby.
This is the greenbelt in our subdivision.  The Girl and I have walked up there a few times, but my knee is acting up this week, so I didn't want to push it.  Its been very hot out and you have to go early.
A great place to take Teddy for walks and smells.
We all met up at Highlands the Sunday after Hubby passed.  Firstborn and Bubbie practiced their ax throwing skills.  It was hot as blue blazes, but we also sat and talked and tried to process what we had seen on Friday.  Hopefully we will meet up again this Sunday to talk about planning a memorial.

That's all I have for now - random bits of life.  I imagine it will be that way for a while.  If you are reading this, thank you.

Swimming in mud with my boots on

Hello from the other side.
Its been 19 days.
Time has both been standing still and zooming forward.  I have a million things to do and to think about during the worst time in my family's life.  I'm both worried about my children and their limited life experience in dealing with the tragedy of losing a parent in the midst of a worsening pandemic, and myself in my limited ability to cope with grief and overwhelm while keeping my life together.
I have hours of forward movement where I feel capable and strong, no crying.  They are followed by hours of flashbacks and debilitating sadness.
What I want to do is crawl onto the couch and stare at a wall, but what I am in fact doing is learning to drive the truck, trying to tie up some financial affairs, plan a memorial, and get ready to return to work.
Its like swimming in mud.  With boots on.
If you are reading this, please send me a prayer or two.
