Weekend re-cap: beering and eating

We didn't hang out all weekend at Highlands like we usually do...so much rain.  And, I had high hopes of starting to work on the front yard landscaping issues at Camp Rustown, but the sky had other plans.
So we went to STW and had their new pumpkin ale while watching the skies over Burnet open up.  I have to say, it was quite nice.  They have a new covered seating area and lots of people had the same idea.
We played some cards, listened to old 70's rock...
...and stopped by to check on Mabel who has developed a problem with her battery keeping a charge.  (It's always something, right?)  It was threatening more rain, so we didn't stay long.
I made a breakfast casserole for dinner, then we headed over to Adelbert's, followed by  Circle Brewing Co.  It still seems funny to me that we have all of these breweries so close to our house and never knew.  Not that we guzzle beer every day - but in the heat and humidity we've had, its pretty pleasant to sit outside and enjoy a beer and a friendly game of cards. We pooped out around 10.
The Girl and traveling friend made it safely to Dallas where they spent the night.  So Hubby and I took ourselves to breakfast on Sunday to a chicken and waffles place.  So many Austin eateries look like this now - super trendy and hipster.  Check out the hanging chairs, black and white wallpaper, painted rug on a wood floor.  There was also what looked like a dead tree hanging upside down with Christmas lights strung through it.
We had something called the "what the cluck".  It was amazing.  Napping and putseying followed until around 5 p.m.  It wasn't a weekend where we got much done...unless you count eating.
I made The Girl a vanilla Bundt cake with chocolate glaze.
And Hubby made baby back ribs.  We made baked potatoes and my favorite BBQ baked beans, too, while we hung out on the back patio.  The Girl finally came home around 4:30 and Teddy was ecstatic.  We visited with her about her trip, drank a little wine, and called it a day around 9:30. When Monday dawned, we all packed up for the day to go our separate ways - the rest of us to work, The Girl to Houston.  And its cliche to say, but the weekend ended like all others do - way too fast.

It sounds like you have been having some serious fun! Why have I never thought to make a breakfast casserole for dinner? I never want breakfast food at breakfast time because it’s just too early for me to eat, but dinner, oh yeah! I need to put that on the list for this week. Also, whatever the “what the cluck” is, it looks yummy too.

We love checking out breweries, especially when you can hang out and play games. Love the pumpkin ales and fall beers too. We are not big drinkers either haha so one MAYBE two beers and we are done!
