Another booger of a week and I'm blaming this one on the heat, and shoulder pain.
a win this week: getting a Kenalog shot in my shoulder
This week I have discovered that I cannot work at the same intensity and for the same amount of time as I used to be able to in the summer. The last four years has made a big dent in my stamina and overall health. Where I felt capable and strong physically, I now feel like I need to be very mindful of the way I approach big projects and heavy lifting. I always have felt like a strong person, but there are limits that come with aging. To help with that, I will be seeing a physical therapist and working on building some shoulder and upper arm strength.
All that to say: I don't have a 5 thing Friday post. Just some random thoughts about dealing with ricketty A/C joints, and Central Texas summer heat, which is kicking my rear.
Just another reminder to me to sloooowww dowwwnnn.
Happy Independence Day Weekend,
Gina

I hope the physical therapist helps! I'm not even what most would consider old (though my kids sure do!) and I already notice my back and joints are not the same as they used to be... despite trying to workout and keep them strong and flexible.
Same here. I've definitely felt a difference in stamina and going at the same pace as just a few years ago. Slowing down and doing what's reasonable is key. Give yourself a pat on the back for what gets done and the rest will be gotten to eventually.
There are limits that come with aging. So very true. I hope you are helped by PT. Sorry about your dreadful hot temperatures!!
I hope your weekend was a good one.
Right there with you, Gina. I'm off to PT today for my shoulder. I fell several years ago and it's never been the same...I often wonder if I were younger, would it have healed differently? Hmmm...
You are preaching to the choir! I had to move a lot of the big plant pots around on the deck one day because I feared cross pollination between my zucchini and my gourds. That happened to me a number of years ago renderin the zucchini useless. Anyway, after I did that one morning, I felt fine the rest of the day, but next day, I could hardly get out of bed. Oh, I do miss stamina. And youth.
