Please forgive all of the dark photos - we've had nothing but gloomy days and rain rain rain. After a few tweaks, I can't make these pics look that much better!
I was tired of the shoe basket in this corner by the front door. The Shoe Basket was something we started when the kids were small. It was a way not to play the "hunt for your shoes before we have to run out of the door to school" game. Instead I now have a nice bench to stow my work/tennies/house shoes, and to sit when taking them off and on. No more holding onto the wall, ha ha.
I have entered my Sandwich Era. Toasting the bread with some cheese on top, adding some sliced tomatoes, plenty of Miracle Whip - my kind of lunch or dinner. Cheaper than takeout, although I'm not sure its all that healthier. But it gets me out the kitchen fast and makes for fewer dishes to wash. Wins all around.
During a break in the clouds I took pics of the Wandering Jew in the backyard.
I know its considered an invasive species, but I like it. I haven't had a lot of time to do yardwork in between storms. I managed to get it mowed, and even sprinkled some grass seed. That's about all Mother Nature is allowing right now.
On my "empty day" I took myself to Bertram for a trip to Donut Plus (an old favorite),
a pedicure (sweet lilac color) followed by yet another sandwich, and a trip to "my" winery. It was a lovely day, high of 63!, thunderstorms that shook me to my bones as I sat wrapped in a Mexican blanket on their patio, journaling and making plans. I really don't have many complaints right now, and I will strive to get better at acknowledging that every day.

Another productive week, I see. Your mention of having a place to corral the shoes when the kids were little so they were easy to find reminded me of the time my son, Andrew, lost his shoes, and I had to take him to the dentist in sock feet. We eventually found them, in the master bedroom. Why they were there is anybody’s guess.
Getting a pedicure at 3:00 - woo hoo! And I could eat a sandwich every day. Your sandwich here looks yum.my!!
I was keeping grandkids while parents were out of town once. Grandson #2 was down to one pair, because he had left a pair at his dad's on weekend visit. After school he came in the house with no shoes...he had forgotten them on the school bus! I quick loaded everybody in the car and drove the bus route and was finally able to flag the driver down and retrieve shoes. Funny now. :)
Your day out looked FAB! I like sandwiches too. We've been eating a pasta salad for a couple of days now. It has chicken and lots of fruits and vegetables in it, so I call it okay for multiple meals (and easy!)
Wandering Jew ( are we still allowed to call it that?) looks great around the tree. It can't invade anywhere. I have Gout Weed growing in a patch in the back where it can't escape. It looks nice and I hoe it off when it starts to extend its reach. (Gout Weed is almost impossible to eradicate once it has a foothold.)
I have a nice bench a d shoe rack in closet. Both always are cluttered! Must solve this. I was looking at my gift card stash...still have one for a mani or pedi, or at least partial cost of one. I desperately need attention to my feet before sandal season.
You got so much done.
I love your shoe bench. I still have that messy basket (and the pile of shoes that sit around the basket) next to the door. I might need to follow your lead and ditch it!
Lovely photos. Your sandwich looks delicious.
