Prepping for Fall

On Monday, we didn't end up going out to Burnet - people slept in late and we all felt tired.  Hubby ended up going in to the office for a couple of hours and I ended up at my desk working on various projects and paying bills.  However, I did manage to go get us a pizza for lunch and I did put out some Fall pretties and clean up the house.
Afterwards I stood back to admire the clean open spaces that smelled like a Fall scented candle...(:  We've actually been hanging out in the front room more often - there is no TV in here and the windows have nice views.  It's pretty peaceful.  And now that my "kids" are pretty much grown, it stays that way!
I pulled out the Fall decor I had in my stash - some very sentimental to me, like the owl plates in the china cabinet.  Not fancy, just fun.  They make me smile.  And the candle jar from a friend has lived on the dining table since Christmas.  I added fall potpourri and a stitched placement from B,B&B.  Done.  I set some things out in the den and the kitchen - nothing new.  Just things I have had a while.  I don't want to spend a lot, just put some touches out here and there, dust and clean, make it smell wonderful and look cozy.
I would still like to put some fall garland on the shelf above the couch, and add some color to the front porch.  But I'm keeping it simple as I have a lot of other Fall projects going right now:  replacing the backyard fence, painting the front door, and getting the back patio in order.  Once the fence is done a whole 'nother list will be waiting to be tackled:  moving the landscape lighting, planting some shrubs and ground cover, moving the swing out to Burnet to make a spot for the terra cotta potted plants, power washing the patio, replacing the deck...
Come on cooler weather, we're going to need you!
