My weeks pretty much blur into each other with all of the days going about the same:
Saturday, Sunday - 12 hours shifts at the hospital.
Leave the house at 640ish, clock in at 7 am, clock out at 730pm. Rinse and repeat for Monday, but everything slides forward 1 hour.
The commute is nice, the parking is nice, I like my co-workers, the work load is doable. But on Monday night, I am spent. So, Tuesday is my day to do laundry, buy food, and relax with no big plans. That leaves Wednesday through Friday to do projects, creative things, cleaning, etc. Its a comfortable routine now, 3 years in to my new job. This week:
*I'm meeting a friend for a beer
*have a telehealth appointment
*reviewing my budget
*selling some stuff back to Half Price Books
*doing some yardwork
*on-call Wednesday
*working on my family history
*seeing the dentist for a cleaning
On Friday, I will food prep for the weekend, do some light housework, take myself to lunch, and read. Bed by 9 pm.
Right now, the days and weeks look predictable and for that, I am mostly glad. Its a different place than I assumed I would be in 5 years ago. I know it won't be this way forever, and I will have to adjust the days again in the future to add even more free time and pursuits.
Not all change is bad, right?

With your weekend work schedule, I wonder if adapting to retirement will be kinder since you already gave a weekday routine? That was my hardest transition since everyone else was still busy M-F, I had way too much unproductive time on my hands. Now, I try and have a weekday rythm ( took over a year and still not completely there) and figure weekends take care of themselves as I then sync with the work world people.
While your weekends are intense at least you have the week to reset.
It sounds like you have a great routine down.
Your working weekend gives you a nice stretch of free days, but I can see why you'd be spent by Monday night.
I struggle with keeping on task. I get easily distracted by scrolling, or crafting, or reading. I have started to use a timer to get me to do something intentional around the house, at least for 15 minutes. :) You seem so much more responsible with your time...I envy that!
I agree with Joanne that you've developed quite a good routine.
Gina,
I did a weekender program where I did 32 hours in 3 days, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.... 7pm to 7am...I did that for 6 years until they abolished the program...I loved it...BUT I am so happy to be retired now for 7 years....Best thing I did was to retire from Nursing at 62 years old...Thanks so much for stopping by!! I finished my Craft Room and will be sharing it at the end of August!!
Hugs,
Deb
