Just a reminder: this is where I am starting out with my hair loss:
I did see the dermatologist and she took two scalp biopsies which, along with hair loss from stress, shows a type of problem that will respond to Minoxidil. (Did you know that Minoxidil is a blood pressure medication? I did not!)
Since I am already on a BP med, I have to keep better track of my BP and any symptoms that are related, like dizziness. I'm not going to let this weird me out. My PCP said we can adjust my BP med. The dermatologist also suggested deep tissue scalp massage, a red light, and rosemary oil. As usual, I am on board with trying everything to see if it works.
This reasonably sized lunch was $17(!) and is the conundrum I am having with not wanting to cook. There's always a trade-off, so I may have to rethink my stance on not cooking. (it was delicious, however!)
Something I will never get tired of is a fresh bed of greens topped with a protein and various veggies, with a squiggle of dressing. So this will likely be on all of my menus forever. I usually buy a 2# package of ground beef, make my own taco seasoning, then store it in ziplocs in the freezer. Easy peasey.
I also mixed up a big batch of pumpkin pancakes this week and froze some in containers for work breakfasts. I added in egg, pumpkin puree, and vanilla protein milk. They are delightful! Having something good to look forward to eating at work goes a long way on a long shift.
Teddy came to visit.
He alternated between ignoring me, and begging for attention. His mama gave him a bath before he came over, but little does she know he's been rolling around in the grass and taking naps outside.
Yeah, eating out is getting really expensive; but at least you enjoyed your meal. I really hate when I don't even like or enjoy the food I order when out because then it feels like such a waste. Good luck with the 2 blood pressure meds! Hopefully it won't take much to get adjusted.
ReplyDeleteSo, that pumpkin spice pancake mix was good? I have used that brand to make gravy for biscuits and gravy, and it was awful. I do like the idea of pumpkin spice pancakes being made from a mix, so perhaps I’ll give that a try.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you’re talking about regarding eating out. Everything is so shockingly expensive. Even trips to the grocery store just blow my mind. As you are aware, it’s not that easy cooking for one, but I do it rather than eat out largely because of the cost.
It was interesting to read about the situation with your hair. My daughter-in-law is having issues with her hair. She is long past chemo, and it didn’t come in the way she had hoped. I found my hair thinning shockingly, only to learn it was due to a medication I was on for my arthritis. That changed immediately I can tell you. I have tried the scalp massaging, and I’ve tried the rosemary oil, and to be honest, I didn’t find either one of those work, so I’ll be interested in hearing how they work for you. I’ve heard that Nutrafol is really a game changer in this regard.
Maybe looking into the frozen pre-made meals home delivered would be an option. I've just started this for my mother because as her cook and the volume she eats I needed some relief. Still less costly than dining out regular.
ReplyDeleteI dont like to cook, if I’m being honest. My husband cooks, and I’ll happily do the dishes. I like simple foods; the salad looks perfect.

My daughter has an autoimmune disease that has caused hair loss since middle school. We've tried it all. She settled the Nioxin System (natural no meds) and it works great with none of the minoxidil side effects because she has low BP. So if you end up needing an alternate, we highly recommend it.
ReplyDeleteIt all sounds delightful. Good luck with the hair treatment. I hope it works for you. Enjoy your cuppa!
