Thrifting and splurging

Today I had a good time at Thrift Town, rolling the aisles, listening to retro 80's muzak, wasting all kinds of time.  But, I did happen upon these items;  a Hawaiian shirt for my hubby, a long sleeve veerry soft tee for me from Eddie Bauer in my favorite color, a nut grinder (for those blasted pecans! and I have a shortbread recipe for them I'm going to make), and this cute candy dish. It says "Noble Excellence" on the back which probably translates to "made in China".  I spent a whopping $5.37.  Whoo-hoo!  Then I went and blew some bucks on hubby's birthday gift - more on that later!  I also decided to make this pic my first of 100 photos:
Melissa's Rose - Photo #1

When we went to my sister's house on Christmas Eve this was blooming next to her deck.  In December.  I think it's a sign.  You know - stop and smell the roses, or some such.  A reminder.  While you are busy with your life, unexpected beauty may be right in front of you.  While you are busy doing errands, chores and housework, pause.  Even when, especially when, your life is full to the brim.
