There are many reasons to donate blood, but here are mine:
I am healthy and well, and so many are not.
It's free, and so many things are not.
They are so nice to me there - the folks in the cantina have me sit while they pour me an ice cold OJ. Gratis. This has never happened to me anywhere else.
I can count blood donations on my Tech Ladder AND help save a life. Win-win!
I am able to do so.
I can atone for being not as nice a person as I would like to be.
Did I mention it makes me feel good? Purely selfish. A tiny amount of pain in exchange for something huge for someone in need.
Better than tithing to a church, in my opinion.
